Get the facts clear first, then decide

Whether a tooth needs treating, whether it can wait, and what it will cost — all of it said up front.

Before you decide on porcelain veneers or clear aligner treatment, this page goes through what you should know first — which parts make up the fee, which situations need attention beforehand, and what happens the first time you come in.

Treatments

What we actually do

For each one we set out where it applies and where it does not — not just what it is good for.

Dental implants

Dental implants

Rebuilding a gap left by a missing tooth. An implant replaces the missing root; the dentist assesses bone volume and gum health first, then plans the treatment.

Clear aligner treatment

Clear aligner treatment

A series of clear trays moves the teeth step by step. Scope and duration are assessed and planned by the dentist case by case.

Ceramic veneers

Ceramic veneers

Thin ceramic shells that improve tooth color and shape. Suitability is assessed first — gum health and bite — before confirming the approach with you.

All-ceramic crowns

All-ceramic crowns

A badly damaged tooth is covered and protected with a ceramic crown. Includes digital scanning and chairside milling.

Children's preventive care

Children's preventive care

Fluoride application, fissure sealing and regular check-ups, provided under the national health insurance rules.

General and gum treatment

General and gum treatment

Check-ups, fillings, root canals, scaling and gum treatment; most gum treatment is covered by national health insurance.

Treatments are named generically; no medical-device brand is shown on this page. Whether a treatment suits you must be assessed by a dentist in person.

The dentists

When it comes to dentistry, what you are really trusting is a person

With dental care, what you are really trusting is a person. These are the dentists who will see you in the treatment room.

Your first visit

What happens the first time you come in

Visits are by appointment only. We finish preparing the treatment room before you arrive, so the appointment time goes to explanation and examination.

About 10 minutes

Understanding your situation and your concerns

What you most want to improve, whether you have had related treatment before, and whether you have had a bad experience.

About 15 minutes

Oral examination and imaging records

An examination of the condition inside your mouth, plus any necessary imaging and intraoral scanning, as the basis for judgment.

About 20 minutes

The dentist explains the viable options

Which approaches are suitable, how they differ, how long they are expected to take, the possible risks and limitations, and how the fee is made up.

Afterward

You take the records home and think it over

We will not ask you to decide on the day, and nothing is signed on the spot. Needing time to compare is reasonable.

Why does this section not use expressions like “the most professional,” “the first choice,” or “the authority”?

Because you have no way to verify those adjectives, and writing them would not help you decide. Every item above — contract status, the programs joined, education and training, the healthcare institution code — is something you can go and check yourself. We would rather write a few adjectives less and give you something you can look up.

Fee structure

How the fee is made up

This section does not list prices; the reason is at the end. Once it is clear what is inside a single figure, you are able to compare a quote from anywhere.

  • Assessment and examination:Oral examination, imaging records, intraoral scanning, and discussion of the options.
  • The main treatment:The appliance or restoration itself, plus the routine follow-up visits during treatment.
  • Adjustments along the way:Corrections made during treatment according to how the teeth actually respond.
  • Maintenance after completion:Retainers and follow-up visits.
  • Possible additional situations:Problems that need treating before the main treatment (decay, gum conditions), remaking an appliance that is lost or damaged, or changing the plan partway through.

We do not post prices on the web, and the front desk does not quote them

The same treatment name can cover very different scopes depending on the condition of the mouth, so putting a single figure on a web page would only lead people to misjudge.

The fee is explained <strong>by the dentist in person</strong> after the assessment is complete — including what each of the four parts above covers, and which situations add to it.

Risk information

Risks and limitations of treatment

Every medical procedure has its own range of indications and its own risks. Please read the following before you decide; the actual situation still has to be examined and assessed by a dentist in person.

Clear aligner treatment

  • Range of indications: Suitable for some alignment and bite problems. Skeletal bite problems, severe crowding, and cases that require extractions may need to be combined with other methods, or may not be suitable for this method on its own.
  • What the treatment requires from you: The result is directly related to the number of hours worn each day. Insufficient wear causes tooth movement to fall behind the plan, and additional treatment or remaking may be needed.
  • Things that may occur: Soreness and discomfort in the early stage of treatment or when changing appliances, rubbing against the oral mucosa, brief difficulty getting used to speaking, attachments coming off, and tooth sensitivity; in a small number of cases, root resorption or gum recession may occur. Inadequate cleaning during treatment increases the risk of decay and periodontal problems.
  • Uncertainty of the result: How teeth respond to movement varies from person to person, so the actual treatment time and the final result may differ from the initial plan, and adjustments are needed along the way. If retainers are not worn as instructed after treatment, the teeth tend to move back toward their original positions.

Porcelain veneers and all-ceramic crowns

  • Range of indications: Suitable for improving some issues of tooth color, shape, or alignment over a small area. Cases with severe misalignment, bite abnormalities, poor periodontal condition, or extensive loss of tooth structure may need other problems treated first, or a different method.
  • Irreversibility: In most cases part of the tooth structure has to be reduced, and this step is irreversible. Please understand this fully before deciding.
  • Things that may occur: Tooth sensitivity after the procedure and discomfort while the gums adapt; over the long term, staining at the margins, chipping of the ceramic, or debonding may occur and require remaking. Night grinding or poor bite habits raise the risks above.
  • Maintenance: How many years they last is affected by oral hygiene, bite habits, and regular follow-up visits, and differs considerably from person to person.

Problems that may need to be treated before the main treatment

  • If the examination finds decay, gum inflammation, root canal problems, or bite abnormalities, these usually need to be dealt with first before cosmetic or orthodontic treatment is appropriate. This affects the overall treatment time and cost, and will be explained together with the assessment.

Common questions

Common questions

Will it hurt a lot?
Sensations differ a great deal between treatments and between individuals, and we will not say “it will not hurt at all.” Orthodontic treatment often brings a feeling of soreness in the first few days after changing appliances; procedures that involve reducing tooth structure or surgery are done under local anesthesia. If you are particularly sensitive to pain, or have had a bad experience in the past, please tell the dentist at the assessment stage — it affects the way the treatment is arranged and paced. You can raise any discomfort at any point during the process.
I am already halfway through somewhere else. Can I transfer here?
We can start with an assessment of where things stand. We need to understand the current stage of treatment, what was originally planned, and the actual current condition of the teeth — all three have to be compared before we know how to arrange what comes next. After the assessment, the possible recommendations include continuing the original plan, adjusting the plan, or going back to finish where the treatment started. We will not promise a result without complete records.
Will my original dentist know? Will it be awkward?
Changing dentists is your right; you do not have to explain it to anyone, and we will not contact your original clinic on your behalf. If you have the original imaging records or treatment plan with you, bringing them makes the assessment more complete; if not, we will carry out a new examination.
Does all of it have to be redone?
Not necessarily. Some situations need only local adjustment, others need to be re-planned; it depends on where the gap lies between the current situation and the original plan, and that can only be judged after an examination. Any claim that “it can definitely be saved” or “all of it has to be redone” does not hold before the actual situation has been seen.
Are these treatments covered by National Health Insurance?
Cosmetic restorations and orthodontic treatment are self-pay items. For items covered by National Health Insurance, such as general dental treatment and periodontal treatment, this clinic is a contracted clinic and follows National Health Insurance rules. The outpatient registration fee is NT$150.
Can I just come and ask about it without going ahead?
Yes. Assessment and decision are two different things. You can complete the assessment, take the records, then go home and think it over, or go somewhere else and ask again.

Licensed & Registered

Government approval comes before opening

In Taiwan, a dental clinic may only open after it has been approved and registered by the local health authority and issued a practice license under the Medical Care Act, and every practicing dentist must hold a physician certificate issued by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. 君漾美牙醫診所 (JYM Dental Clinic) is a legally established, government-approved medical institution (medical institution code 3701028607), a National Health Insurance contracted clinic (contracted since 2021), and a participant in the NHI Administration's Integrated Periodontal Care Program and Enhanced Infection Control Program for Dental Outpatient Clinics. Every item above can be verified in official public records.
